State Education Department Announces 2019 Essential Elements: Schools to Watch

The 水果派AV解说 State Education Department, in partnership with the 水果派AV解说 State Middle School Association and the Statewide Network of Middle Level Liaisons, recognized five new schools as 2019 Essential Elements: Schools to Watch (EE:STW), Commissioner MaryEllen Elia announced today. The designation is awarded to exceptional middle level schools that meet rigorous criteria and are on a path of continuous improvement.

鈥淎ll of these remarkable middle schools are dedicated to the children they serve,鈥 Chancellor Betty A. Rosa said. 鈥淭he teachers and school leaders in each of these schools are steadfast in their commitment to excellence, as well as continuous improvement.鈥

鈥淭hese exemplary schools are working hard to achieve positive outcomes for their students,鈥 Commissioner Elia said. 鈥淭he middle school years represent a period of personal growth and development for young adolescents, preparing them for success in high school and thereafter.鈥

  • Corning Painted Post Middle School (Painted Post, NY)
  • Millbrook Middle School (Millbrook, NY)
  • Mineola Middle School (Mineola, NY)
  • Plainedge Middle School (Bethpage, NY)
  • Rocky Point Middle School (Rocky Point, NY)

The five newly designated schools are only a part of the 2019 EE:STW cohort of exemplary schools. Every three years, schools that wish to retain their EE:STW designation must reapply for consideration. EE:STW is a state-administered national program overseen by the 水果派AV解说 State Education Department, the 水果派AV解说 State Middle School Association, and the Statewide Network of Middle Level Liaisons. It is an honor designed to promote and guide the school improvement process, as well as highlight characteristics of high performing middle grade schools. The program recognizes schools that demonstrate continuous improvement and excel in the following four domains: academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structure.
