Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ City Mayoral Control Hearings
Pursuant to Chapter 364 of the Laws of 2022, the Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ State Education Department shall conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of the overall effectiveness of mayoral control of Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ City schools. This winter, all members of the public—including students, parents, teachers, school administrators and staff, and individuals with experience and expertise in education policy and school governance—were invited to provide feedback on their experiences, assessments, and/or review of the mayoral control system of Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ City schools. Members of the public could participate (a) byÌýproviding oral testimonyÌýat one of five public hearingsÌýand/or (b) byÌýsubmitting written electronic testimonyÌýto the Department (the submission window for written testimony ended on January 31, 2024).
